For years it was thought that American Zinfandel was native to California. It was only recently that it was discovered as being brought to the West Coast by Italian immigrants. It turns out that Americas famous Zinfandel was Puglias Primitivo all along! From Villa degli Olmi comes this Primitivo from the famous Salento zone in Puglia. Viticulture here dates to the ancient Greeks and is characterized by hot Mediterranean sun tempered with cool maritime breezes producing grapes of balanced intensity. The color is deeply purple with a violet tinge. The bouquet is complex, with aroma of leather, chocolate and ripe red fruits. The taste is harmonized, persistent and full bodied.
