Tasting Notes

The fruit for this intensely flavored Mourvedre comes off a block of 60+ year old vines which were planted on the site of an old almond grove. The block is situated on alluvial soils in the Willunga foothills and has an East-West orientation. The color of the wine is a freakishly dense deep purple, with hints of black and blue. Noticeably fine tannins add to the wine's seductive personality.

"The 2005 Mourvedre “Almond Grove” is purple-colored with a fragrant nose of damp earth, forest floor, truffle, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied wine with a supple texture, spicy blue fruits, moderate tannin, and good depth. The wine becomes narrow in the finish and has some tannin to resolve.
