CALATAYUD, SPAIN
Tasting Notes
Deep purple colour with violet touches. Intense and complex aroma, with generous ripe red fruits, blackberries, redcurrants and violets. There are also balsamic aromas, soft smoky and chocolate traces coming from a brief stay on lees. In the mouth it is full-bodied and meaty, with prominent ripe tannins of great quality. The wine is in perfect balance, with slight acidity that gives the necessary freshness for a wine with such depth of flavour. Its finish and aftertaste is extremely long and pleasant.
Temperature for serving 16-18 ºC.
Cuisine: Ideal for slow cooked dishes with great intensity of flavour.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Garnacha Old Vines was sourced from vines averaging 70 years of age. Asian spices, incense, lavender, and black cherries inform the nose of this savory, firm, lengthy offering. It is likely to evolve for 1-2 years but can be approached now.
Monte Vicor produces Cava and still wines in the DO of Calatayud where Garnacha is king. (Jay Miller) 88pts

Estate Profile
Monte Vicor is named after the Vicor Mountains that dominate the landscape and are home to much of the vineyards owned by to the fifth generation Langa vignerons, Juan and Cesar Langa Gonzalez, Owners of Bodega Langa Hermanos. It is arguably the most contemporary and best equipped Cellar in the Region, and the wines reflect this.
The 70 hectares of vineyards are actually, spread over two Domains with completely different terroirs giving great flexibility and scope to produce wines with character and individuality. “Los Yermos” is located in the Sierra de Armantes at an elevation of 600M, with an annual rainfall of 450mm. The vineyard looks like an oasis in the desert. Flat stony materials and clays dominate the soils. This is exclusively Garnacha territory.
The “El Coll” Domain is located close to the village of El Frasno, at an altitude of 750M, and annual rainfall of 750mm. The climate is fresher, and with the influence of Mount Moncayo has a reliable soft breeze that extends hang time, and enhances the aromatic profile of the grapes. Plenty of pine, cherry and almond trees share the slopes on the deeper soils.
