2009 RUTHERGLEN ESTATES "SHELLEY'S BLOCK" MARSANNE

31st July 2010 TANZER'S INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR

Light yellow. Spicy aromas of pink grapefruit, pear skin and talc, with a peppery note adding lift. Firm and dry, even slightly hard-edged, with tangy citrus flavors and a building note of dried herbs. Leaves suggestions of anise and fresh sage behind on the taut, focused finish. I like this wine's uncompromising personality but suspect that some will want more flesh.

2009 RUTHERGLEN ESTATES "SHELLEY'S BLOCK" MARSANNE

31st July 2010 WHO WEEKLY

White blends can throw up some great combinations, and this one is increasingly popular; the marsanne (70 percent) is fresh and fruity, and the viognier adds a rich intensity. Victoria's Rutherglen region has long made great fortified wines, and has built up a reputation for fine table wines. Author: Michelle Reedy

Yellow-gold. Fresh pear and peach on the nose, with a bright floral quality; dominated by the viognier today. Vibrant citrus and orchard fruit flavors are sharply defined and show good finishing energy. This saw no oak. Author: Joshua Raynold

2006 RUTHERGLEN ESTATES "THE ALLIANCE" MARSANNE VI

28th July 2007 THE CANBERRA TIMES

A $15 white that has something to offer is a rare thing but it's exactly what "The Alliance" is. It's a blend of mostly marsanne picked up with a good dose of luscious viognier. Savoury notes pf nougat are layered over pear, almond and dried apricot flavours. The palate is full but finishes with a crisp, dry note, a delicious combination.
