2010 ALTIVO TORRONTES "VINEYARD SELECTION"

30th December 2011 WINE ADVOCATE #198

The 2010 Torrontes Altivo Vineyard Selection is a blend of 92% Torrontes from Cafayate (the finest source for this variety) and 8% Gewurztraminer from an estate vineyard. It offers up a fragrant bouquet of tropical and pit fruits leading to a medium-bodied, mouth-filling, dry wine with a vibrant acid backbone and considerably more complexity than your basic Torrontes. It is an outstanding value meant for drinking over the next 12-18 months.

The new releases from Finca Eugenio Bustos include a number of excellent values. (Jay Miller)

2010 ALTIVO "BARREL SELECTION" CHARDONNAY-VIOGNIER

1st December 2011 ROBERT PARKERS WINE ADVOCATE

The 2010 Chardonnay (50%) – Viognier (50%) Altivo Barrel Selection saw 30% of the Chardonnay go through malolactic with 30% of the total blend aged in new French oak for 4 months. White peach, apricot, and poached pear aromas set the stage for a medium-bodied wine whose oak is well-integrated. In the glass it displays lively acidity, good balance, and a slightly narrow finish that kept the wine from a higher score. Even so, it is an excellent value meant for drinking over the next 2-3 years.
