Dugat Py Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 750ml - 2292
Detail
Bernard Dugat and family have been well entrenched in Gevrey Chambertin winemaking for many generations. The Dugat domaine as we know it, however, has only existed since 1975, and was split by cousins Bernard and Claude in 1990’s into Dugat and Dugat-Py . The winemaking and farming at Dugat-Py is particularly meticulous. Their ten hectares are worked by just five people, working organically and with some biodynamic practices . Some of the plots are plowed by horse. In the winery, they employ low-intervention methods, without cold-soak, and fermented naturally in cement and wooden vats. The premier anc grand crus are aged in new french oak, and all of the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. The Charmes Chambertin is the most generous wine of Dugat-Py’s Grand Cru lineup. The nose is aromatic with ripe bright red cherry and roses, laced with spice, savory herb, and grilled meats. The palate is concentrated and up front with ripe red fruit and savory elements, and unfolds as it opens up to reveal a note here and there of nuance. The tannins are structured and generous, supported by fresh acidity and an elongated and layered finish. Enjoy this cult classic with crispy roasted duck with a fruit compote or a hearty cassoulet, and cheeses like gruyere or talleggio .
