Detail
The blazing red soils of the Northern Mosel are made up of fractured slate and deposits of iron. This insanely steep vineyard makes mechanical harvest impossible and the land has been worked by hand ever since vines were planted here. These thirty year old Riesling vines have sent their roots deep through the ancient fractured slate to find nourishment and it would be hard not to correlate the minerality of this wine with the slopes of the winding Mosel. A nose bursting with tropical mango and ripe pears with high toned grapefruit rind, orange oil, and white peach flesh. A hint of sweetness is balanced by high acidity and minerals. Food Pairing: Fish and Chips Fried Shrimp Anchovy Pizza Cheese Pairing: Salty blues such as Roquefort or Shropshire Blue
