Chateau de Fleurie, Fleurie 750ml - 15557
Detail
The Château de Fleurie was established in the 18th century in the heart of Fleurie itself. It encompasses 4.5 hectares including some of the best sites of the village, namely les Grands Fers, la Madone and le Point du Jour. The soil type here is pure granite allowing for excellent drainage is one of the defining features that creates exceptional Gamay. Work in the vineyard is fully sustainable, free of pesticides and herbicides and work in the cellar follows a similar minimalist tone. The vinification is as traditional as can be at the estate with whole cluster fermentation and semi-carbonic maceration with every vintage. This adds complexity to the wine and an almost signature fruit-forward character that some of the great Beaujolais have been known for. The wine finishes fermenting in stainless steel tanks and ages in large wooden tonneau barrels. Ripe red cherries and earth come forth from the glass here. The texture is excellent coming from the promising 2019 vintage and is certainly a wine to drink now. Pair with roast beef sandwich, charcuterie, or a selection of cheeses .
