Nid Tisse Bacigalupi Chardonnay 750ml - 14159
Detail
I was born and raised in a rural region of France called Limousin where I grew up spending a lot of time outside, starting my interest in nature and my surroundings. This naturally made me gravitate to the wine industry. After graduating from the Ecole Viticole of Libourne Bordeaux and Beaune Dijon I gained experience working internships in Bordeaux, Burgundy and south of France. Working alongside passionate winegrowers and winemakers along the way I was convinced I needed to come to California. I worked two harvests with Pierre Seillan at Stonestreet and then at Hartford Court. During that time I met my husband Frederick Ammons and after working for Dulong Negociant in Bordeaux for 4 years we decided to move to Napa Valley. After 18 vintages of dedicated work with Atelier Melka, a high-end consultant, I decided to start producing my own wines. Working with growers who have history and unique terroirs, Nid Tissé was born. -- Marie-Laure Ammons The original ranch was owned by Helen and Charles Baciglaupi and was planted with Cherry Trees. This block is now known as Cherry Tree, All Wente Clone. Non-interventionist winemaking philosophy allows for full fruit expression. The grapes are pressed immediately after harvest under low pressure and the juice is cold settled in Stainless Steel Tanks overnight then transferred to barrels. Indigenous fermentation takes place in the barrels. The wine is gently stirred once a week until full completion of malolactic fermentation. This wine is aged for 15 months in 100% Burgundian French used oak, then for a year after bottling until being released. This is beautifully expressive and textural Chardonnay that captures the terroir of the Bacigalupi vineyard and Marie-Laures skills all in a glass. Flesh apple and pear with citrus and minerality with a palate that dances with energy without being sharp. Enjoy with rotisserie roasted chicken or pheasant, and rich cheeses . Only 69 cases were produced.
