Detail
The Alexander Valley AVA is too often overlooked as a region for great white wine but this Baus Family Chardonnay begs to differ. Unlike the Russian River Valley AVA, which occupies a broad splotch of land in the middle of Sonoma County thats defined largely by climatic considerations, the Alexander Valley AVA outlines the path of the Russian River as it flows from Mendocino County southeast to Healdsburg. Over the ages, the river meandered across the valley, leaving deposits of gravel underneath the alluvial soil, ideal conditions for growing great wine grapes. Butterscotch, lemon zest, creme brulee and Colorado peaches framed around new oak, with a creamy middle. Soft, refined, elegant! Nice, gratifying finish with hints of crisp Bartlett pear, shortbread cookies & tropical fruit flavors. Food Pairing: Steamed Lobster Poached Salmon Chicken Picatta Cheese Pairing: Soft, bloomy rind cheese such as Brie or Camembert
