Detail
Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is an estate-grown wine of place, the culmination of the Phillips family’s evolution from grape growing to winemaking over three generations at Vine Hill Ranch. Tucked along the wooded hills of the Mayacamas Mountain Range in Oakville , Vine Hill Ranch is a work of balance Fruit from their higher vineyard blocks lend an earthy, forest floor quality, the sloping grade and gravelly soil produce intense, concentrated and expressive black fruit. Blocks on the lower benchland, with their deep, loamy soils yield bright fruit flavors and fine tannins full of verve and energy. The estate’s winemaker, Françoise, is no stranger to world class wine. After earning her degree in oenology, she started her hands on trainman with an apprenticeship at Château Haut-Brion. In the early 1990’s Françoise returned to the Napa Valley where, in 1993, she joined Araujo Estate. Vineyard manager, Michael (The Scarecrow Guy) Wolf works closely with Françoise to coax incredible Cabernet Sauvignon from these hillsides. The VHR Cabernet Sauvignon offers beautiful floral aromas of violet and lavender, with bright damson fruit, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate with a hint of cedar and tobacco. Gorgeous black cherry, currant and cocoa powder notes are framed by structured, opulent, yet elegant expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon. A wine of such power and opulence is easily enjoyed on its own, hopefully with a fire pit in sight! With food, grilled tomahawk steak with compound butter and creamy polenta or braised ox tail with black truffle jus will stand up to this wine. Match with truffle studded cheeses .
